The 1999 NMMS Foray will be in Jemez Springs, NM, from August 19-22. We welcome Mycologist Steve Trudell, who will join us at Camp Shaver, a YMCA camp located about 4 miles north of Jemez Springs. We will be visiting areas in the Santa Fe National Forest, at altitudes from 7,000 to 9,000 feet, exploring various forest habitats: Piñon/Juniper, Ponderosa Pine, Fir/Spruce, and Aspen.
As well as NMMS members, we welcome all members of the North American Mycological Association, as well as members of other recognized mycological organizations. NMMS members attending the Foray may also invite guests to join them during the Foray.
Camp Shaver provides several well ventilated cabins. These accomodations are primitive; they provide a leakproof roof, but no screening and no electricity. Participants will need to provide a sleeping bag or bedding -- and a flashlight. For those who prefer, there are alternative accomodations available in the Jemez Springs area.
Silver Platter Caterers of Albuquerque will provide all the food for this year's Foray: 7 gourmet meals from Friday Breakfast through Sunday Breakfast. We will gladly accommodate those preferring Vegetarian meals provided upon request; there is space on the Registration Form to specify this preference.
The Foray Fee is $115 per person. Members' children under age 15 may attend for ½ price. The Registration Deadline is August 3rd, and we will charge a penalty for Registrations submitted after that date. We expect to accommodate a maximum of about 60 people, so we may need to impose a registration limit.
