Parking in the Sandias
There is a $3 daily parking fee in the Sandias. Those who think they
will be frequenting the Sandias might consider purchasing an annual pass for
$30 (good for 2 vehicles and valid for a year following the month of
purchase) or an Interagency Recreation Pass for $80.
For more information visit the Cibola NF webpage:
www.fs.fed.us/r3/cibola.
Conditions:
Tues, 4 April: There is no snow below 8000 ft, but shaded
areas are still moist from the weekend's precipitation. That will probably
change soon.
Fungi:
During this time in past years, we have encountered some Peziza, and
occasionally find snowbank fungi such as Discina and Caloscypha. We may also
encounter fresh fruitings of
Auricularia (wood ears). We expect that some members would also
be delighted to chase down and capture some slime molds.
Equipment:
Sturdy waterproof footwear and plenty of drinking water.
Current weather conditions suggest that packing some raingear would be
a good idea as well.
